Overview

The Ama Yangri Trek is one of the best short Himalayan treks near Kathmandu, offering breathtaking mountain views without needing to travel far or trek for many days. Located in the Helambu region of Sindhupalchok, Ama Yangri (3,800m approx.) is a sacred peak for the Hyolmo (Yolmo) people and is considered the “Protector Goddess of the Helambu Valley.” The summit viewpoint provides spectacular close-up views of Shishapangma (8,027m), Ganesh Himal, Langtang Lirung, Dorje Lakpa, Gauri Shankar, and many other snow-capped peaks.

This trek is ideal for trekkers seeking a peaceful Himalayan experience with a mix of nature, culture, and spirituality. The trail passes through traditional Hyolmo villages, dense rhododendron forests, prayer flags, chortens, monasteries, and serene landscapes. Being a less crowded route, it offers a tranquil trekking experience with an authentic local feel.

Ama Yangri is perfect for beginners, families, and travelers with limited time who still want a rewarding Himalayan adventure.
