Overview

Upper Mustang is one of the Nepal's oldest heritages closely associated with Tibetan
culture. In this stark landscape trekkers encounter medieval town, surrounded by a
huge wall with some of the oldest scriptures.
The last resort of Upper Mustang Trek is Lo Mangtang that is believed to be the old
Buddhist kingdom. There is an old 4-story royal palace with Dhaulagiri and Nilgiri
mountains in the background.

    • Arrival in Kathmandu where an Orbit Nepal Adventure representative will meet you at the airport and transfer you to your hotel. Overnight at hotel.

    • This day we will gives you the diteals information about trekking program and coordinate any last-minute arrangements. After/before the staff meeting, we will take you sightseeing with a tour guide to visit the highlights of Kathmandu - Pashupatinath, Boudhanath Stupa, Swaymbhunath and Patan Durbar Square. Overnight at hotel.

    • we will take a short scenic flight to Pokhara, where stunning views of Annapurna and Machhapuchhre welcome you. You will have free time to stroll around Phewa Lake or visit local viewpoints. This easy day helps you adjust gradually before heading toward the trans-Himalayan Mustang region.

    • After breakfast at hotel we will drive to the pokhara airpore then take a flight  to the windy town of Jomsom and begin your trek along the Kali Gandaki River. The trail to Kagbeni offers open desert landscapes and Tibetan-influenced culture. Explore the village’s ancient monastery and narrow alleyways. Kagbeni is the restricted-area checkpoint for entering Upper Mustang.

    • Today after breakfast around 7am we will walk through dramatic rock formations and barren cliffs as you head deeper into Mustang. we will follow the Kali Gandaki Gorge and pass small settlements and ancient caves. The trail gradually ascends before reaching Chele, a charming village known for apple orchards and warm Thakali hospitality.

    • After breakfast at tea house today’s trek crosses several small passes, including Taklam La. The route offers stunning canyon views and colorful eroded cliffs. After passing Samar Village and quiet desert landscapes, you arrive in Syangboche. The altitude increases, offering a true taste of the Upper Mustang’s remote, windswept beauty.

    • By cross the Yamda La and Nyi La passes, enjoying panoramic views of Mustang’s dry plateau. The trail is scenic with chortens, caves, and barley fields. Ghami, one of Mustang’s oldest settlements, is famous for its long mani walls and whitewashed houses. Spend the evening exploring the village’s peaceful surroundings.

    • We will walk past Mustang’s longest mani wall before climbing through dry riverbeds and gentle ridges. Approaching Tsarang, you’ll spot its red monastery and historic palace. The village’s Buddhist art and ancient architecture make it one of Mustang’s cultural highlights. Rest in the calm atmosphere and enjoy the expansive landscapes.

      Today by climb toward Lo Pass, where the walled city of Lo Manthang comes into view. Enter the ancient capital known for its royal palace, monasteries, and timeless Tibetan heritage. Lo Manthang’s narrow alleys, horse culture, and festivals make it a unique Himalayan treasure.

    • Today we will spend the day visiting monasteries, local households, and traditional schools. Optional hikes to Chhoser’s ancient sky caves or the Jhong Cave offer incredible insights into Mustang’s prehistoric culture. This acclimatization day balances rest and exploration, helping you adjust to the higher elevation

    • With the delicious breakfast we will retrace part of the trail before taking a scenic alternate route through isolated villages. The landscape showcases dramatic red cliffs and untouched desert valleys. Drakmar is famous for its crimson rock formations and mythic stories. It’s a peaceful stop offering a close connection to Mustang’s ancient geological formations.

    • we start early this day to avoid afternoon winds. Trek across passes and long valley stretches with magnificent Mustang scenery. Ghiling is a quiet village surrounded by cultivated fields and traditional homes. Enjoy the fresh mountain air and visit the local monastery for insight into everyday Mustang life

    • After breakfast to day we will star walking  along open landscapes and cliffside trails. Enjoy the views of Nilgiri and neighboring Himalayan peaks. The route passes small settlements and ancient cave dwellings. Chuksang welcomes you with its traditional houses and calm river views, making it a comfortable stop toward lower Mustang.

    • we will walk along the Kali Gandaki River, often accompanied by afternoon winds. The trail gradually widens as you approach Jomsom, where the landscape becomes greener.
